About Disma Stables

It all started in 1985 when Disma bought his children a small Dutch mare which they used to train and take care of. George, Disma’s eldest son, started showing a lot of interest in Horse Racing and although he was still very young, he started to compete with the above mentioned mare at the race track.

As time went by, the interest for the sport grew so much that George started to personally take care of the stable's First Racing Trotter - Jeton du Fayolle. Results were not that promising at first and thus after buying the mare Lamon, Disma decided to buy another two French horses - Mon Volo and Mon Enfant Royal.  These two horses performed so well that thanks to their excellent results, the dedication for this sport kept growing. Being easy both to handle and to drive, the new horses helped George learn how to handle and drive Trotters. When he turned 16, he obtained a Jockey's License.

In a matter of a few years, Disma bought more and more horses. Together with his sons and a few friends, they have become one of the most successful Horse Racing Stables in Malta. There was also a time when the stables at the farm were all occupied and the amount of competing horses went up to eight !

George kept improving his driving skills and with the support of his father and brothers, he managed to win the title of Best Apprentice Driver Competition for Season 2006 - 2007. This title was well deserved due to the fact that George always gave all the horses adequate training that would result satisfying all throughout the season. Vakana, Silver Drew and Vanilier du Hamel were three promising horses. Even though the competition was a tough one, they all managed to gather a lot of points and consequently, George managed to win the Championship with a 22 point lead.

Currently the farm hosts ten trotters in training, all owned by Disma and his family. The horses vary from mares to geldings and consist of six Swedish, three French and a Danish. GR Goldstar is now happily retired at the farm after having had a very successful career. Disma Stables have increased their operations. Nowadays they organize an Annual Horse Show and occasionally they also import horses from European countries for the local market.

Disma Stables will definitely remain a leader in the equine scene here in Malta and promise various other interesting projects in the coming future.
